Craft beer in Vienna: what is on our six taps right now

5 October 2026 · 4 min read

Six taps, six styles. A snapshot from October 2026, plus bottled beers, gluten-free and alcohol-free options, and the easiest way to try something new.

Stand in front of a craft beer board for the first time and you get names like Sumer Crush and Season of the Witch, and no idea what ends up in the glass. Here is what is on the taps at Beavers Pub, Schönbrunner Straße 98, and how to find your way through the styles.

Six taps, six styles

We have six taps and the beers on them change all the time. The list below is a snapshot from 5 October 2026. By the time you visit, something else may be pouring, and the board in the pub is always more up to date than this page.

  • Big Laker Lager: a classic lager. Clean, easy drinking, not bitter. A good place to start if you just want to settle in.
  • Sunny Day (American IPA): hoppy, with citrus and a clear bitterness. The one for anyone who expects an IPA.
  • Happy Trails (American pale ale): IPA's gentler sibling. Plenty of hop aroma, less bite.
  • Sumer Crush (sour IPA): hops meet acidity. Fresh, fruity and a little odd, best from the second sip.
  • Season of the Witch (saison): peppery and fruity, with a dry finish. A beer that works well with food.
  • Oktoberfest (festbier): golden, malty and round. The traditional beer of the season.

No prices here, because they follow the taps. You will find them on the board and on the menu.

Taste, don't decide

If you can't pick one out of six, the tasting board puts four small glasses on your table. You try your way through, work out what you like, and then order a full glass of your favourite. That way you aren't stuck with a whole pint of something that isn't for you.

Bottles: other independent breweries, gluten-free, alcohol-free

Alongside the taps we stock bottled beers from other independent breweries: Storchenbräu, Brew Age and BlakStoc. There is also a gluten-free beer from Gusswerk and an alcohol-free one from Rampensau, so nobody at the table has to fall back on water.

Where to begin if you don't know your styles

You don't need the vocabulary. Say what you usually drink and ask which tap comes closest:

  • If you normally drink a lager or a pilsner, go for the lager or the festbier.
  • If you like bitterness and citrus, take the IPA.
  • If you want something different from usual, try the saison.
  • If you fancy something sour, the sour IPA is your beer.

If you are still unsure after that, order the board and compare.

Food to go with it

The kitchen is open until 10 pm. Buffalo spicy wings, fish and chips or a burger all go well with the hoppy beers, and a sausage and mash suits the saison. The full menu is here.
